They Almost Capture Our Insanity...

...and the blast that we had.

The pictures from my retreat. Enjoy. (Pretty much all of these were taken on the same day...so that's why we're all wearing the same shirts. ;)

Jenna and I. :) (just reminding you all, I'm the one on the left)

Let's just say the food was super good. Yum.

I hate bananas, but they're colorful. Bananas taste yellow, right, Jenna?

I love the lighting of this one. The table had its own little spotlight. ;)

*gasps* Me texting my friend on Jenna's phone.

Jenna in our sleeping-room.

Jenna outside with all the middle schoolers and highschoolers watching the boot-hockey championship.

Jordyn in her adorable knit cap. :)

I HAD to put this one in. :)

Jordyn "beating me up".

Watching the boot-hockey championship.

I love Jenna's hair in this one--so cool.

Jordyn and I. Yes, I look sleepy but that's because of the sun.

Jenna. Is. Adorable.

Heh heh...we are such dorks.

Our friend Jasmine. :) (and yes, that's part of Jenna's head in the picture--she was intent on sabotaging my photos)

"Miss America," Jenna's older sister. (Cara was pretending to be Miss America throughout the whole retreat)

Jordyn being...well...this is Jordyn being Jordyn. :)

This one has terrible quality...but the beginning of the bananaphone pictures. :)

This is Cara (Jenna's older sister) demanding the bananaphone. Tarra is wondering what we're all doing. (the one in the brown shirt)

Yes, Cara eventually got her wish...a turn to talk on the bananaphone with me. ;)

Yes. This is a sandwhich. More specifically, my sandwhich that everyone else tore apart.

My lovely friend Alison. (and I don't mean that sarcastically--she is very pretty...just...not in this picture. ^^)

Jenna and I...doing what we normally do when around each other.
Yes, it does look like I have a milk mustache, but it's the light blurred on my lip. I zoomed in just to make sure. ;)

I love all of my insane, wonderful, crazy friends, most of which were not in the pictures. :)

As you may have gleaned from these photos, the retreat was insanely incredible--put Jenna and I together for too long and we'll practically explode from laughter. So the retreat had to be insane and incredible, for those two words describe my friends. :)

Kudos to Jordyn for taking (most) of the pictures and sending them to me. Thanks, girl!! Love you! :)

*Yawns* And Fantasy Names

My sleepover Saturday night-Sunday with Hannah, Jenna, and Jordyn was amazing. It was tons of fun. So much fun that I can't even try to relate it. ;)

And yeah, I'm dead tired. Even though the sleepover was a few days ago. ^^

According to This Site, my hobbit name is Ysungwen Ness of Fair Downs; my elvin name is Caleviel Serindë; my dwarf name is Sidda of Moria; my human Tolkien name is Sevallan Neithan; and my wizard name is Curumo Stormcrow. Those names are...okay, they just make me thankful of my name. Who wants to have your friend come up and say, "Hey Ysungwen Ness of Fair Downs"?!

Yes, this is a random question, but does anyone else like running? For me, running is a lot of fun. I like it so much I'm thinking about doing cross country next summer/fall, along with soccer and golf. Last night I ran for forty five minutes at my town's Community Center. I was listening to Handel's Messiah on my iPod; my favorite song is definitely Unto Us A Child Is Born--I think that's the title. ;)

The Last Day

Kind of crazy to think that today is the last day of 2009, isn't it?

The change of the year brings a lot of new feelings: determination to fulfill my New-Year's Resolutions, excitement, and a bit of irritation because now I have to get used to writing 2010 on all of my papers and such.

While speaking of my New-Year's Resolutions, my family and I decided to go sugar-free (by sugar I mean sweets, desserts, that sort of thing; but also we're going to attempt to cut out most sugar from our diet, excluding natural and unavoidable sugar [such as the sugar in bread]) for the entire year of 2010. I'm kind of publicizing this fact in order to eliminate the possiblity of quitting after the first month. ^^

Christmas break has been so nice, hasn't it? My family and I have gone to two plays, eaten out several times, hung with extended family, watched movies; I've had numerous phone-calls with my friends, came up with two new plots (I wrote the sequel to the plot mentioned in the previous post, and am really excited to start writing), listened to the same songs over and over again, and relaxed. The thought of starting school next Monday is slightly scary, but as I'm having a sleepover with three of my dearest friends (Jenna, Hannah, and Jordyn), the excitement of that overrules the dread of school.

Happy New Year! :)

Tag

Yes...another tag. I've seen this one about ten times in the last few days on all the blogs I follow in my dashboard. ^^

And it's for this lovely award... (I actually think it's really pretty ^^)

Here are the rules...

1) Do a post about the person who awarded you, and their blog.
2) Give the award to 5 of your favorite blogs, give a reason, and leave a comment telling them they have been awarded.
3) Answer the 10 random questions.
4) Have fun!

I was awarded by Emily Shae and JT and Emily.
Emily Shae--I love your blog! Your design is so pretty, and your posts are full of fun, yet once in a while, there's a serious one thrown in just to balance things out and shade in your character a bit more.
JT--I love being a Warrior of Light. You remind me constantly who this life is all about, so thanks for that. :)
Emily--*Grins* the font used consistantly through your blog is one of my favorites. Isn't it called the King and Queen Font? (at least on my laptop, it is ^^) And besides, your posts are so interesting, and your siblings are so cute. ^^ And I love the snowmen. :]
1) Have you ever ridden an elephant? Not that I can remember, no.
2) Have you ever eaten squid? Are...you...kidding...me. No. Way. *thinks then gulps* actually, I might have eaten it when I was in China nine years (or so) ago. I ate chicken legs, and perhaps squid.
3) What is something crazy you have done with your best friend? Well, at my birthday party with my bestest friend in the world and two amazing friends (Jenna and Jordyn), we stayed up until like three o'clock, eating cold noodles (and throwing them everywhere), squashing bugs, and talking (and talking...and talking...). Also, two Halloweens ago, the same bestest friend and I went trick-or-treating while singing Give Me Your Eyes. That night, we stayed up until about five in the morning. Which is crazy. ^^
4) Have you ever held an alligator? Uh...no.
5) Have you ever let a snake slither through your fingers? What Kind? Yes, a mere gardner snake. When I was younger, I was obsessed with snakes. I even let them bite me.
6) What is your first and foremost dream in life? Glorify God and continue to grow closer to him. And, of course, I wouldn't mind publishing a book or two.
7) What is your dream vacation? England. Hopefully it's long enough to obtain an English accent. ^^
8) What is the funniest movie you have ever seen? Night At The Musuem 2 or The Apple Dumpling Gang.
9) What is your favorite song? Agh...okay, I'll list several of my favorite songs. Fireflies by Owl City, What Faith Can Do by Kutless, You Belong With Me and Teardrops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift, Again by Firefly, and Whatever You're Doing by Sanctus Real.
10) If you could change the world in one way, what would you do? Ohmiword...I want to change the world in so many ways. Probably say bring everyone to Christ, but everyone else is saying that, so I'm going to say stop all poverty and bad trafficking (as in drugs and worse).

Alright, so now I'm going to award 5 people (don't be obligated to do this if you don't want to, and I'm trying to tag people who, to my knowledge, have not been tagged yet):

Abigail Kraft, 'cause you're so darn awesome. ^^

Marissa, for the same reason.

Jake, 'cause you're always willing to read Midnight and critique honestly; plus, when I need something to read, you send me Call of the King (Ash'del is SO awesome ^^).

Seth, 'cause you're writing is so much fun to read. :]

Chloe, 'cause you told me about... *clears throat*. 'Course I won't say what you told me...But thanks. ^^

Namarie,

Sleepover And Concert

Two nights ago, I went to Jenna's birthday party, and it was a blast. We goofed off, played games, watched Bedtime Stories ("You will give me a cherry-red Ferrari for...FREEEEEE?!" *grins* one of my best friends, Jordyn, and I were quoting that all night long :D), and had a blast. I met a whole bunch of awesome people.
Then yesterday night, my brother, his friend, my mom, my dad and I went to Joel Hanson's concert, and guess who I saw there? *laughs* Jenna and Jordyn. I sat with Jenna's family (her dad, her mom, her awesome older sister, her hilarious younger brother, her incredible younger sister, and, of course, amazing Jenna :D). Cara (her older sister), Jenna and I stood up in the middle of the last song in appreciation. My mentor, Tiffany, was sitting right in front of us...it was great.

AH!

I recently got some emails from my counselor from camp, Christie:

Hey Beautiful! I miss you! I just got back to school! I think about you all the time. How was the rest of summer? Tell me everything! I love you! Oh p.s. Dave told me he liked me a week ago ;) -Christie

Let me explain the Dave thing. My brother had Dave as his counselor, and Dave was Christie's best friend. She liked him, and me and my cabinmates could all tell, and so we were teasing her throughout the whole two weeks about how we knew they would get together sometime. In my reply, I told her some random stuff that happened to me over the summer, and stuff, and asked her to tell me all about Dave and what happened. This is her reply:

It is SO good to hear from you. I think of you all the time. I was so blessed to have you in my cabin. I can't wait to see you because I miss you so much. I wish I would have had someone just like you growing up because you would have been my best friend. You are awesome. School is amazing. I love my apartment. I have pictures of you girls up on my wall :) I can't believe you were right about Dave! He told me once we got back from HoneyRock. I went over to his house and he told me that he had never met anyone like me before and that he really liked me. He said that He respected me and wants to make sure that we honor God in everything. I feel so blessed to have him in my life. I told him that you girls thought that we would end up together and he got a big smile on his face. If you could pray for us that God would lead us that would be awesome. I will make sure to keep you updated :) That is so awesome that you got contacts! I bet you look beautiful! I am so excited you got a purity ring too. I know that you will stay pure and do such great things with your life. God is using you and has already used you. He used you a lot in my life this summer. I am so proud of you girl and I can't wait to continue getting to know you even better. God is so so good! I love you!
Christie

She is probably one of the most awesomest people I have ever met. She is incredible. I wish I had more time to get to know her.

Also, I just got an email from my friend Jordyn, and she is going to be doing the writing class in WEST that I'm doing... *grins* so yeah, my excitement mounts further :D

Today...

...I am going over to my friend Jordyn's house...so excited.

On Thursday, my family and I are leaving for our family-friends', the Pukals, cabin for three nights...that'll be a lot of fun too.

Oh, and unfortunately, this post has to be marred with some bad news...Peter, my younger brother, broke his arm by colliding with my neighbor on scooters. Prayer for him would be highly appreciated. Peter's really disappointed because he doesn't get to swim at the cabin because of his cast.

Purity Ring!

My mom just ordered an awesome purity ring for me today. She's getting a matching one too, to wear alongside her wedding ring.
The ring is sterling silver, with the words Purity inscribed on it in Greek, and then on the inside the reference to a verse. So excited for it to arrive in the mail!! :D
Oh, and one of my dear friends Jordyn C. just got braces!! So excited for her. I'm getting my braces off (hopefully) sometime before Christmas, or so my orthodontist says.

Well we might be going with my brother and a few of his friends, but still, we'll be wandering around the vast Valley Fair with NO adults supervising. What could be funner? :D
It's going to be AWESOME!!

*sigh of contentment*

I just finished my chores...yes, the sleepover is over *yawn*. We stayed up until one o'clock talking/giggling about MANY random things *ahem-ahem, cough-cough, sniffle-sniffle, snort-snort*...sorry, inside joke :D.

It was SO great!! I had so much fun!!

The Water Fight was incredible. I got hit with a plastic cup above my eye by Hannah (*pointed glare* jk :D) and I have a bruise/scratch there which grosses me out :D.

The Water Fight was incredible though. There was a lot of traitorous back-stabbing going on. For example, Jordyn was like to Jenna, "Oh, I'm on your team!" and then she would turn on her with the hose and completely soak her... *laughs*

What inspired the Water Fight was when Hannah and I dumped water on Jenna. Jordyn just playfully insulted Jenna, so Jenna stood up, shaking in mock indignation, and proclaimed, "I am going to talk to the hose!" She then struts down the deck stairs (leaving Jordyn, Hannah and I in spastics of laughter). Hannah jumps up, grabs her water cup, and whispers urgently to me, "Bekah, let's dump our water on Jenna when she walks underneath!!" So we stood by the deck until Jenna walked proudly underneath us. We both dumped our full water glasses on her; I scored, but Hannah completely missed. My ice-cubes all drummed Jenna on the head which was hilarious. Of course, Jenna ran back up, grabbed her cup and threw the water at me. Hannah turned on me with Jordyn's cup and dumped the water down my back, then sprayed Jordyn with the remaining water. All of us were wet anyway, so we just decided to have a Water War :D Which was a great idea.

Then after we all got dried off, Jenna wanted to have her left-over noodles, so I went and got them (at like eleven o'clock at night! :D) and I stole the parmesan chicken (I had the last bite and I was waving it in front of Hannah and she was like GIVE IT TO ME and I just ate it which was fun :D). Then Jenna started feeding the noodles to me one-by-one (which took a long time). Then she got impatient and started feeding them five-by-five, and then uncounted-by-uncounted...

We ended up taking cold noodles in our hands and scattering them all over Hannah and Jordyn...Jordyn didn't even care 'cause she was too busy killing gnats, and Hannah just screamed "BEKAH!!!!" while continuing to blog*clean out ears*

Let's just say I had the best birthday party I have EVER had!! I got incredibly great presents, and awesome cards...

I have the best friends EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *laughs*

PS: Jenna has a blog that I made for her this morning...click HERE to go there!! Be sure to follow her ;)

Sleepover

Alright, I'm in the middle of my birthday party sleepover, with three of my friends: Jordyn, Jenna (from Happiness), and Hannah (from Aspire)!!

Hannah came to my house early at three thirty; we dressed up (I had this long silvery skirt and my mom's red shirt and Hannah wore her confirmation dress, Jenna had an orange summer dress with white polka-dots and Jordyn had a black dress that ended at her knees and it had a decoration at her neck) and then waited for Jordyn and Jenna to arrive.

Anyways, so we went to the 3D movie Up (the second time I've seen it); it was extremely sad. Hannah cried four times (streaking her mascara), I cried twice (by cry I mean tears running down face), Jenna cried once, and Jordyn exclaimed loudly in several parts, laughing evilly on several occasions (mainly when the evil guy died) and generally making me crack up in sentimental parts.

Hannah was talking and I typed it up:

"I DID cry, and I WAS so freaked out my mascara would run...*laughs*"

Now her feet are up on my desk... *groans*

After the movie, we went to Noodles & Company which was really awesome. I love that place, as Jenna says (all three of them are reading over my shoulder, occasionally instructing me in what to say).

We then came home, ate ice-cream cake, opened presents, and played "Water Fight". I will upload one very gruesome (jk...?) movie later...probably... "Water Fight" was this very wet game consisting of throwing water from the hose and plastic cups (full of water...not the cups, the water in the cups ;). We all got extremely soaked.

Alright well we'd better wrap it up as it's 10:30...we're going to talk some more and then probably go to bed (Jenna is insisting that I type "hit the hay" instead of "go to bed"...). Right now, Jordyn is walking around, maliciously laughing, holding my LOTION and squashing innocent bugs with the bottom of my beloved Essence of Sweet Pea lotion!!

(Jordyn Typing:)
These bugs are MALICIOUS and BLOOD-SUCKING and they desreve to die!!!!!!!!!!!!
*mad cackle*

(Jenna Typing:)
Hello...it's Jenna! *crack up laughing*...as you know... *continue to crack up* *keep laughing, accompanied by Jordyn* I snorted today...just kidding!! *laugh so hard she's snorting* HELP WE ARE DYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... AND MANY MORE OF THOSE THINGYIES !

(Hannah Typing:)
Okay, first I have to go read what they wrote. Hmm...Bekah and Jenna are eating noodles. BEKAH GIVE ME SOME OF THE PARMESAN CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Jordyn just killed another mosquito...I guess I'll read what they wrote later. Much later. Apparently Bekah loves those noodles....*laughs hysterically as Jordyn screams* Bekah's dropping noodles on Jordyn. Did I mention we had a HUGE water fight? I was SOAKED as in, I had to completely change. COMPLETELY. It was freezing. So freezing. *laughs* Bekah's choking on her noodles. LOL, I just read what they wrote...geez, that was funny. :D

Bekah again...wow those cold left-over noodles were really delectable...sorry, Hannah, we ate them all. She just groaned and said, "Wow, thanks Bekah." Jenna was feeding them to me one by one...yummy ;)

Well it's eleven now, so we'd better get to bed.

*Weary Sigh*

I just got back from the lock-in! It was so utterly awesome! The first nine hours were amazing, but then the last three hours...My friends and I were like, "Ah!! Just let this be over!!" :D Of course we didn't go to bed because that would defeat the point of a lock-in.

Alright, so my family went to a small-group at a friends' house with another family. At seven o'clock, my dad, with another dad, drove us (me, my brother, and two of his friends) to the church, and dropped us off. We signed in, and then the evening started.

*Rub eyes* Right now, my thoughts are all in a jumble, so don't blame me if I get the order of the activities mixed up, because, honestly, I can't think very straight at the present moment.

Okay, so we (Jordyn, Jenna, me, and other random girls that we hung out with such was Kaylee, Sarah, Des, Rachel, and Adriana) went into the Youth Suite and got split up into teams.

In those teams, we played Capture the Flag. Our team...well...totally stunk. :D Alright, so first-off, I got myself promptly captured, and was dragged in humiliation to the jail by a triumphant kid who was extremely proud to have captured me. Jordyn soon joined me, and Jenna (on the winning, and opposing, team) was like strutting past us in smug satisfaction. Soon a whole bunch of kids got landed in jail, and there we stayed until the end of the game, talking, looking for the flag, making pleads to be let out, crafting human chains to search for the flag, "Bekah-fying" each other (I was doing Jordyn's hair..."Bekah-fying" each other :D), and randomly seeing how far we could walk before the guard yelled at us to get back.

So the game ended after the other team captured all our players and leisurely strolling through our territory scouting out the flag, then making a point of showing off when they found it :D

We went inside...and...ah...I think we did... *moan* Jordyn, correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't we do Sardines? Yes, that was it. Sardines. ;]

Jenna got picked to be the Sardine, and she went and hid, and then everyone else went out into the dark, dark hallways and rooms and crannies of the huge church in which we were hanging out. Of course, Jordyn and I were the last people to find Jenna. :D When we walked into the room in which Jenna and a whole bunch of kids were hiding, I was like, in a sugary-sweet voice, "Jenna, I know you're in here! Where are you?" And then she starts laughing, and sets off a chain-reaction. And we found them. With much mortification. :]

Then we played again, and all the kids searched for John (the new Sardine) fruitlessly for many minutes. Like an hour, no kidding. Jordyn and I were like, "Ah! We can't find him!" and so we shadowed a guy named Robby in the hope of him finding John, and then we finding him through Robby (that was a confusing sentence...hopefully you got what I meant :]). So us three (Jordyn, me, Robby) went into this dark room (well...all the rooms were pitch black so I guess that doesn't hold much precedence :D) and Jordyn and I aimlessly wander around the room while Robby searched the cupboards. He says, "No-one in these things! New room! Let's go!" and so we followed him out. Then, he mysteriously gave us the slip and we couldn't find him, so we just were wandering around when we found ourselves back in the same room. And everyone was in it. Robby lied to us about the empty cupboards! :D Jordyn called him "the little liar" the rest of the evening, refusing to call him by name :D

After that, we played a vicious game of Diaper Wars in the shadowy halls of Open Door. I mean it when I say "vicious" game. :D Jordyn, Jenna, and I were just walking through the most furious battle places saying, "We are on your side!" whenever a person threatened to throw a diaper at us, and thus get us out.

Then we did a "fun switch" game, where each team did these different activities for a half-hour each and then switched to a different activity. The activities included: Progressive Pictionary, Floor Hockey, and Art.

Then we came back into the Youth Suite, ate nachos and lemonade, and then played more Diaper Wars. After that, we did another "fun switch" game, except with different activities. This time they were: Writing Skits, Games in the Gym, and this Challenge thing.

Then we returned to the Youth Suite (which was the meeting place, if you haven't noticed) and watched each team preform their skit (ours was dumb...Jordyn and I were just widows who clapped at random times...:D lame, I know). Then we ate pizza and hung out (ate pizza at four o'clock in the morning :D).

At five, we started a movie (Mall Cop, or something like that). You could either go to the "sleeping rooms" and go to bed, or play more violent Diaper Wars, or watch the movie.

Most of the girls chose the movie. :]

The movie was exceedingly dumb however. It was just...wrong on a number of levels. True, it had its funny parts, but they were crude and scarce. Plus it was just...yeah. I don't recommend seeing it. So Jordyn, Jenna, and I went outside in the midst of the Wars, and wandered around, then, after getting pummeled by diapers and getting annoyed, went back into the Youth Suite, and painted our nails awesomely (is that even a word? :D) with the most awesome youth leader, Michelle. Then we just sat around and talked until seven.

When I got home, I went to my grandma's house (after around a...about-one-hour-naptime :D) to babysit my great-grandma. I actually really enjoy watching Grandma O (Grandma Olga :D, but I was so utterly tired that it wasn't that fun. I mean, I guess it was, but it wasn't like...yeah, I would have just prefered to stay at home. I earned twenty bucks though, so that's good ;]

Grandma O takes such joy in little things, like the sun playing on the lake, the breeze tickling the branches of a tall tree, a sweet note of a wind chime, the flight of a small bird across the sky, the beautiful blossoming of a orchid, the shy probings of a doe down in the woods; such small things that a lot of us are too busy to even notice. At such times, her wrinkles and flabby skin disappear, and she reminds me of a delighted little girl, who is entranced by everything in the world.

My grandma came home from working at her office, and drove me home in her AWESOME convertible. I LOVE it! It's so great just to let the wind whip your hair around, and to feel the sun on your arms. *Dreamy sigh* :]

And here I am, blogging on my computer. :D
